Leslie Stevens’ moving, sonorous, voice and writing will leave a bookmark in the most golden part of your soul. She has earned accolades from the cognoscenti for her recordings and live shows as a luminary in the Los Angeles music scene. A devotee of the truth and freedoms of the folk tradition, she plays live without pretense and aims for the heart. Voted Best Country Singer by The LA Weekly, she tours now in celebration of the release of her self-titled third album, ~Leslie Stevens. The songs find the Missouri native venturing beyond folk and country into mysterious new terrain, backed by players from the bands of My Morning Jacket, Incubus, Bob Dylan, Lucinda Williams, and Bruce Springsteen. Outside of her self-titled solo project and other bands such as Leslie Stevens and The Badgers, she has recorded on the albums of Brian Wilson, Jim James, Father John Misty, Vetiver, Florence and The Machine, and Electric Guest. She’s sung live with Joe Walsh of The Eagles, the Cash and Loretta Lynn Families, Lucinda Williams, Conor Oberst, Jenny O., M. Ward, Jackson Browne and Mike Campbell of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. Gracing records produced by Danger Mouse, Thom Monahan, Jonathan Wilson, and singing and writing for film and TV scores for Disney, Universal, and Dreamworks she has contributed to many works of art in her adopted hometown of Los Angeles. Her own records have been produced by Jonathan Wilson, Kenneth Pattengale(The Milk Carton Kids) and Kevin Ratterman. A long time admirer of Elliott Smith’s, she recently performed live with Elliott’s Figure 8 Touring Band to benefit New Monkey Studios. She is honored to be part of the Los Angeles music community where she taught songwriting for years at the Los Angeles College of Music.
